Hard Drive Data Recovery
Years ago, memories were preserved in photo albums and
scrapbooks. Personal information was stored in binders and
folders. Now with newest computer technology, most of the personal
information and valuable memories are stored in digital format. All
this digital data is stored in a hard disk drive of the computer. A
hard disk equipped with moving parts and other mechanisms may fail at a
certain time. Although solid and stable hard disks with more
reliability have entered the market, yet the cost is still beyond the
range of the average user would expect. Hard Drive Data Recovery
from a damaged or faulty hard disk drive is not an easy job. If you
are conversant with diagnosing and connecting/disconnecting the hard disk
drive inside your PC, these suggestions can help you in your data
recovery. Most of the user grade hard drives that were sold in the past five
years have a predictive failure function called SMART (self monitoring
analysis & reporting technology). This function can be enabled
easily on most computers by entering the system setup BIOS. The
SMART will display a warning during boot-up if any disk drive problem is
detected. Then you should back up the data immediately and replace
the faulty disk drive. Computers operating on Microsoft Windows have an event log which
also can show messages about any problem, the most common one about faulty
hard disk being "windows has detected a bad block on device". When
this message is on, a blue screen with corrupt data and slow operation can
be observed. Immediate back up of your documents is critical at this
stage. You can use an external hard drive through the USB or fire
wire for back up of your data if the faulty disk can still be accessed
through the system. If the faulty hard disk can't be accessed,
offline access can be the next choice.
